No, this is not the cry of another discovery of gold. It is the deliberate result of dedicated gardeners planting 60,000 daffodil bulbs in the Town of Paradise, CA. Some daffodil bulbs were planted by individuals in their own yards, but the majority was lovingly buried in public gardens for all to enjoy.
The vision was born in the mind of a member of the Paradise Garden Club, Jayne Locas. Prior to becoming a permanent resident she “felt that something was needed to bring the community together, a unifying concept that would bring hope and joy to all who passed through. What could be done that would enhance the beauty that the town already possessed?”
A number of communities have embraced daffodils as a harbinger of spring. Notably in the town of Volcano is the famous “Daffodil Hill. The 150 year old ranch is a family owned garden containing 400,000 daffodils.

St. John’s Episcopal Church will be celebrating its 26th Annual Garden Tour this year. For the event, five locals will open up their homes to garden fanatics who appreciate growing a beautiful landscape as much as them.
The Garden Tour will be on May 2nd from 11 AM to 2:30 PM and will showcase a variety of outdoor wonders.
“We have small gardens and large ones, new and old, with fresh landscaping, as well as more mature,” said Carol Sprague, co-chair of the Garden Tour.
